Attention Graduates, the Loran Scholar award is now open for applications. Application deadline is Oct 15^th. You can apply at apply.loranscholar.ca.

Soccer 3 on 3 at noon today.  Teams 8 v 4 and Teams 2 v 3.  

The varsity girls soccer team hosted Fundy High School last night in their first league game match up. The girls started off strong with pressure on the Fundy net immediately after kickoff. The first goal of the game came from Jenna Booker after a beautiful through pass from Verity Daye.  Three minutes later though, Fundy retaliated with a goal of their own tying up the score. With just one minute left in the game, Eldyn Barrett got the game winning goal for the Spartans.  Players of the game were Anna Curran on defense, Madelyn Bellis for the midfielders, and Jenna Booker for forwards. Great game by all Spartans! 

GSA meeting taking place today at lunch in Ms. McCurdy’s room. New members always welcome.

Each week here at SSHS a student will be selected to be our Spartan of the Week.  They are chosen because of their work ethic, contribution to a class, team or group, or because of their Spartan Spirit.  This student will be featured on our school sign and receive a prize -donated by Subway.

Congratulations to Hallie Conley for being chosen as the Spartan of the Week. Hallie is in Mme. Wheaton’s FILA 10 course.  Each day Hallie arrives ready to learn and participate in class discussions and group activities. Hallie demonstrates strong leadership skills, and she is very open to receiving others’ suggestions and opinions, making her a student who shines in group collaboration and coordination.  Hallie stands out as she is very kind and respectful, always giving her personal best when participating in and completing assignments. Her class notes are super organized!  Hallie is an exemplary student who is a pleasure to have in the classroom.  Keep up the great work, Hallie!!

Army Reserve Career Pathway Mentorship Program for students 16 years and older – Any students who would like to find out more information about a Co-op opportunity second semester to experience the first steps in the Canadian Armed Forces please see Mrs. Calder in room 306.  It is an 8-credit hour program which will grant the student their initial basic military qualification, first aid certificate, and workplace safety qualifications.  Applications for this special program need to be completed by October 22nd.   

The Schulich Leader Scholarship is back for another year. This scholarship is the largest and most prestigious undergraduate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM scholarships in Canada. 100 scholarships are awarded each year, valued at $120, 000. Every high school in Canada can nominate one graduating student per year. If you are interested in applying, SSHS administration is asking each interested candidate to submit a one-page paper outlining and explaining your passion for this field of study. As well as your goals and your future career with STEM. Please submit to Ms. Waycott by November 19th. Check out eligibility/criteria on the link posted in the Grad TEAMS Page.

A reminder to all grade 12 students regarding the grad class calendar fundraiser:  Please bring your tickets and money to Ms. White in room 304 once you have sold your 20 calendars.
