Note: Separate Art supplies and PE clothing (shorts, sneakers, tee shirt, towel, shower supplies) are required for students enrolled in those courses. 

Laptops

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development requires that students bring a personal electronic device (laptop preferred) to support their learning daily. 

Note: Cell phones are not considered a preferred learning device.

⚠️ Based on the age (memory, processor speed and storage space), you may experience limitations or issues while using that device in the classroom.

If you already have a laptop or tablet that works at home, you are encouraged to try using it at school before purchasing a new device.

Please Note:

  • You are not required to purchase Microsoft Office for your device as the licenses are included with your child’s account.

    • best equipped to meet all of your coursework needs for long-term use
    • typically lasts for many years

  • Tablet / iPad – An option
    • more delicate and prone to breakage
    • certain client software may not work
    • a keyboard and protective sleeve is strongly recommended

    • likelihood of lasting 4 years is quite low
  • Refurbished – Not recommended
    • limited warranty
    • likelihood of lasting 4 years is quite low
  • Phone – Not recommended
    • limited usability for a long period

If applying for a subsidy, please note:

  • You must purchase a device that meets the specifications listed to qualify.
  • You are only eligible to receive one subsidy, so it’s important to choose a device that will last your entire time in high school.
